
Industry Glossary
Here is a list of some of the common terms used in the converting industry. This page is currently under construction. We are available to answer any questions you may have on any terminology regarding this industry.
Converting-processing material in order to change the state, shape, or size of the material using various different methods
Core-the center tube that material is wound upon (typically cardboard)
Core Cutter-machine used to cut cores to size to use with different width materials
ID-the inner diameter of the core (see definition of core below)
Slitter Rewinder-machine used to unwind large rolls of material, slit or slice the material, and roll the material onto two or more smaller rolls
Sheeter-or "cut-to-length" machine that unwinds material and cuts the material into sheets by using either a cross cut or guillotine method
